(she/her)
I am passionate about creating meaningful, equitable opportunities for learning in out-of-school settings. My background spans educational research and practice, and I draw from both as I partner with organizations to build rigorous, culturally responsive evaluations. I am based in Tucson, Arizona, and work with partners across the United States. I spend my spare time backpacking and learning ceramics.
I have worked as an external evaluator and evaluation subcontractor since 2018, supporting science education, workforce development, and informal learning initiatives and organizations. My clients have included:
Aspect Research + Evaluation
Mason County Environmental Exchange
Museum of History and Industry (MOHAI)
University of Washington Friday Harbor Labs
Wing Luke Museum
Projects have had a range of funding sources, including NOAA and NSF. Learn more about my external evaluation approach and services.
Before beginning my independent practice, I worked in science education communications and research for the University of Washington Institute for Science + Math Education for seven years. In this role, I managed research projects on climate change and science education, youth interest development, and science equity education. In this role, I also helped produce practice briefs and professional learning materials to bridge research and practice for the website STEMTeachingTools.org. I also worked for two years at the University of Alaska Center for Alaska Education Policy Research, where I supported STEM education and workforce development programs across Alaska.
I have also worked as an out-of-school educator at Mission Garden (Arizona), the Washington State History Museum (Washington) and National Park Service (California, Washington, and Massachusetts). In these roles, I designed successful youth and adult education programs, wrote grants, and developed in-house evaluations to better serve museum audiences and pursue organizational strategic goals.
M.A. in Museology (Museum Studies), University of Washington
My courses focused on out-of-school learning and evaluation. I completed the program’s Specialization in Evaluation.
